Correction: Earlier reports in this news item said that Shkrumeliak's newborn daughter had been killed.
Quote: "Sadly, a tragedy has occurred: a National Guardsman has been killed, along with his newborn daughter. The baby had been born to his wife in the maternity hospital. May they rest in peace.
Emergency repair works are now ongoing in the city. Workers are boarding up the blown-out windows in the maternity hospital so that staff can continue their work."
Details: Martsinkiv also said that a six-year-old boy who was injured in the strike is in hospital in a stable condition. His injuries are not life-threatening. The other injured people have received medical assistance and their condition is fair.
Martsinkiv urged people not to ignore air-raid warnings, adding that the consequences could have been far worse at the maternity hospital if people had not gone down to the basement at the time of the strike.
Update: Onyshchuk later clarified that it was the father and his 15-year-old elder daughter who had been killed in the attack. They had come to visit the man's wife at the maternity hospital, where she had given birth to a son a few days earlier.
The city mayor revealed their names as National Guard serviceman Volodymyr Shkrumeliak and his daughter Aneliia.
Update at 22:25: The Colonel Semen Vysochan unit – Ukraine's 50th Regiment of the National Guard – confirmed that the deceased was a serviceman of theirs, Volodymyr Shkrumeliak.
Quote from the regiment: "The barbaric attack by Russian occupiers has claimed the lives of a National Guardsman and his daughter Aneliia, who had come with her father to the maternity hospital. Volodymyr had recently joined the ranks of the National Guard of Ukraine, choosing the path of defending his homeland. He was a man of honour, responsibility and deep paternal love. His service had only just begun, but he had already proved himself to be a reliable brother-in-arms."
