Details: Mission Control is described as a tool that records all operations of unmanned systems and generates dashboards for further analysis and decision-making.

Mission Control immediately provides commanders with a full operational picture, including plans and the effectiveness of unmanned systems use.

"Data is structured and suitable for rapid decision-making. The system covers all key task types: reconnaissance, strikes, mining, logistics and evacuation," Fedorov said.

He added that reports 5.31 and 5.32, previously used to record unmanned systems activity, have been cancelled.

Quote: "If a unit were operating intensively, this took several hours to complete tables and transmit data. Then followed a vertical reporting process that affected flexibility and efficiency of decision-making."

Details: After data are entered into Mission Control, the system generates a dashboard that becomes available within minutes for analysing and planning unit operations. Decisions are now made on the basis of high-quality data available simultaneously at all command levels – from battalion level to the General Staff and the Ministry of Defence.

Fedorov described Mission Control as a system enabling drone operations to be managed on the basis of collected data, which should simplify decision-making and reduce bureaucracy.

For reference: DELTA is a Ukrainian situational awareness platform supported by the Centre for Innovation and Development of Defence Technologies of Ukraine's Defence Ministry.

Background:

  • Drone operations were integrated into the Mission Control digital system on 23 January. Since then, commanders have received a full real-time picture of mission execution.
  • As of 6 March, more than 150,000 digital mission reports had already been generated in Mission Control.
  • At the end of February, the Ministry of Defence reported that the system was recording more than 2,800 target strikes daily on the front.
