Details: The strike on the terminal was carried out on the night of 28-29 March by long-range UAVs operated by fighters from the SSU's Special Operations Centre Alpha.
"This is a key Russian seaport on the Baltic. It is used for oil exports, including via vessels from the so-called shadow fleet," the SSU stated.
The SSU said the overnight strike has caused "serious damage" and a fire at the Ust-Luga oil terminal in Russia's Leningrad Oblast. It added that Ukrainian forces had hit Russian oil infrastructure on the Baltic Sea four times over the past week in coordinated operations with units from Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, the Special Operations Forces, the Unmanned Systems Forces and the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. Among other facilities, drones operated by the SSU struck the port of Primorsk, causing fires and damaging several tanks.
Background:
- It was previously reported that Ukraine's defence forces had struck the oil terminal in Ust-Luga several times during the week.
- Analyst Dnipro OSINT released satellite images of the terminal facilities hit by Ukrainian forces and confirmed that one of the port's oil-loading jetties has been completely destroyed by fire. A strike was also carried out against the Purga, a Russian patrol icebreaker, in Leningrad Oblast.
