Ukraine and Bulgaria sign security cooperation agreement

Bulgaria's acting Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov and Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a security cooperation agreement between the two nations during Gyurov's ongoing visit to Kyiv.

Details: Zelenskyy and Gyurov said one of the bilateral documents signed on 30 March is a security cooperation agreement.
"Today, the prime minister of Bulgaria and I have signed a security agreement between our countries. Our teams worked on this for a long time," Zelenskyy said.
He specified that the agreement is valid for 10 years.
"The key provisions include the continuation of military support from Bulgaria to Ukraine," Zelenskyy wrote on X (Twitter). "An important element is joint production of various types of weapons on the territory of our country, including drones. Bulgaria will use the SAFE instrument for such co-production."
"Today, the president and I signed a long-prepared agreement on security cooperation," Gyurov said. "I am glad that we were able to do this this time. This is not just a formality, it is joint work within the framework of our shared Atlantic security."
Gyurov also announced that the Bulgarian government has approved a national contribution to the Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) programme, under which European partners finance the purchase of American weapons for Ukraine.
Background:
- On 30 March, Ukraine and Bulgaria held their first intergovernmental consultations, during which cooperation in various areas was discussed, including agreement on a roadmap for cooperation in energy and maritime security.
- The two countries also plan a test launch of a passenger train via Romania this summer.
