According to Trump, Tuesday will bring "Power Plant Day" and "Bridge Day" to Iran, presumably meaning that the US will strike the country's energy and infrastructure facilities.

Reuters previously reported that Trump had already publicly warned of possible strikes on Iranian bridges and electricity facilities, and had issued Tehran an ultimatum regarding the restoration of traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most important energy corridors, meaning any threats regarding its blockade or forcible unblocking immediately affect oil markets and global supply chains.

Background:

  • On 3 April, the US president threatened Iran with new strikes on infrastructure, including bridges and power stations.
  • Iran responded to the threats from Trump by repeating his messages about "hell", only directed at the US and Israel.
