No one can impose peace terms on Ukraine – Hungary's new PM
Hungary's incoming Prime Minister Péter Magyar has expressed his desire for friendly relations with Ukraine and said he opposes imposing any peace terms on Kyiv.

Quote from Magyar: "I have not changed my position like Orbán, depending on where he speaks – in Moscow or Brussels. In Hungary, everyone knows that Ukraine is the victim of this war. The task of the Ukrainian government is to defend its territorial integrity and sovereignty, and no one can dictate to them, after four years of war, on what terms they should make peace," Magyar said.
Details: He added that no country can be told to surrender its territory, as politicians from Fidesz – Hungary's ruling party – have suggested. He noted that if Russia were to attack Hungary, no one would give up its territory either.
"It is not for Hungary to decide on peace between Russia and Ukraine, but Ukraine should be provided with security guarantees and guarantees of territorial integrity that can be upheld and monitored," he said.
Background:
- Magyar also indicated that he would not block the EU's €90 billion loan for Ukraine, as the decision has already been made, but confirmed that Hungary will not participate in it.
- He also outlined his views on relations with Russia and its leader Vladimir Putin.
