Belgium and Spain to provide €1bn each in support for Ukraine – Ukraine's defence minister

Ukraine's Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has said following talks with his Belgian and Spanish counterparts that Belgium will allocate €1bn in military aid this year and confirmed plans to transfer additional F-16 fighter jets, while Spain will also provide €1bn in support to Ukraine.

We coordinated key areas of cooperation – strengthening air defence, developing drone capabilities and the 'Czech initiative' to supply the line of contact with long-range artillery."

Details: Belgium will allocate €1bn in defence assistance this year and confirmed its intention to deliver additional F-16 fighter jets and ensure the supply of spare parts for existing aircraft.

Spain will also provide €1bn in support for Ukraine in 2026. The parties focused on expanding defence cooperation during the talks, including within the Security Action for Europe (SAFE) mechanism. Ukraine has offered the opportunity to test Spanish drones in real combat conditions.
