Quote: "Twenty-nine occupiers attempted to infiltrate behind our positions using a gas pipeline and difficult weather conditions."
Details: The military said this was not the first such attempt in the area – Russian forces had previously used the same route despite heavy losses and obvious risks.
"Thanks to coordinated work by reconnaissance units, UAV crews and artillery, the enemy's movement was detected and stopped in time. All identified targets were destroyed – it appears the occupiers' real aim is 'self-demilitarisation'," the statement said. [De-militarisation is one of Russia's claimed reasons to justify the full-scale invasion of Ukraine – ed.]
Background: Earlier, Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the Joint Forces grouping, said that Russian troops had advanced near the settlement of Myropilske in Sumy Oblast, but fighting continues near Marine and the Russians have not reached Novodmytrivka.
