Details: Zelenskyy said he had spoken with Rutte on 14 April about air defence and the PURL programme, which allows Ukraine to receive missiles for Patriot air defence systems.
He noted that news regarding PURL should be expected.
The parties also discussed key security challenges "currently facing everyone in the world".
Quote: "It is important that we all coordinate and strengthen one another. Strength for air defence is our key priority, and people's lives must be protected."
Background:
- On 10 April, Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine had recently received a new batch of missiles for the Patriot system.
- Notably, Zelenskyy had previously expressed concern that a prolonged war in the Middle East could further undermine US support for Ukraine due to a shift in Washington's global priorities.
