Details: DIU also drew attention to the fact that Shvabe's structure includes foreign assets, among them the Chinese company Shvabe Opto-Electronics Co., Ltd, and the Belarusian company Shvabe (Minsk), which expand access to technologies and components.

Defence Intelligence indicates that despite their involvement in military production, 30 firms belonging to the holding company have not yet been sanctioned by any country in the sanctions coalition.

These include:

  • The Moscow-based Sapfir plant, a manufacturer of photodiodes for Iskander-M ballistic rockets and photoreceptors for Krasnopol-M2 guided artillery shells.
  • The Central Design Bureau Foton, which produces laser rangefinders and thermal imaging devices.
  • Germaniy JSC, which is engaged in the production of germanium and its compounds for infrared optics, fibre optics and the nuclear and radio-electronics industries.

DIU stated that Shvabe is the eighth Rostec holding company whose structure has been posted on the War&Sanctions portal. In total, 553 Rostec companies involved in supporting Russia's military capabilities have now been identified on the portal.

Quote: "This case once again confirms that in Russia there is no clear distinction between civilian and military production and that any technology company can be integrated into the war machine of aggression."

Background: In February, DIU released detailed data on 39 companies belonging to the Russian Kalashnikov concern.
