Radiy Khabirov, Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan, said that "several drones were shot down over the industrial zone of Sterlitamak". Khabirov claimed that "debris from downed aerial assets" fell onto the premises belonging to a company, causing a fire. No casualties have been reported.

After analysing photos and videos from the scene, ASTRA, a Telegram-based news outlet, concluded that the Sterlitamak petrochemical plant had been struck. The facility produces aviation fuel, synthetic rubber, phenolic antioxidants and various chemical additives and hardeners.

The Sterlitamak petrochemical plant is part of the Roskhim holding company. It had already come under attack from Ukrainian drones on the night of 5-6 January.

Ukraine's military leadership has not commented on the attack.
