Kallas presents fourth pillar of security guarantees for Ukraine to EU foreign ministers

Kaja Kallas, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, presented the fourth pillar of the European Union's future security guarantees for Ukraine during a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg on 21 April. The ministers have agreed to move forward with it.

Details: Kallas said the EU is developing the fourth pillar of its security guarantees for Ukraine.
Quote: "And there was also broad support today to move ahead with the fourth pillar of European security guarantees, focused on the defence sector reform, hybrid cyber threats, as well as the veterans."
More details: The three previously reported pillars of the EU's security guarantees for Ukraine are:
- Military support for Ukraine, including the EU Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine (EUMAM), which provides training
- Civilian support, including training programmes for police officers and border guards
- Defence-industrial cooperation with Ukraine
Background:
- It was reported earlier that the EU wishes to modernise two military training centres in Ukraine as part of its security guarantees.
- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said earlier that the document on security guarantees with European allies should include a specific date for Ukraine's accession to the EU.
