The company cites "high risks for farm personnel as the reason for the decision".

It estimated that this has reduced pork production by 6,000 tonnes in the first quarter.

Rusagro was founded by billionaire Vadim Moshkovich, who has been under arrest since last year on bribery charges.

At the end of 2024, the group acquired the major pig farming company Agro-Belogorye, which operates in the border areas of Belgorod Oblast. The company has repeatedly reported employee deaths following aerial attacks and damage to production facilities.
