Trump urgently evacuated after shooting incident in Washington

US President Donald Trump was swiftly escorted away from the White House Correspondents' Dinner after gunshots were heard in the building.

Details: After the shots were heard, officers from the US Secret Service evacuated Trump from the stage.

The incident occurred during the White House Correspondents' Dinner at the Washington Hill hotel in Washington, D.C..

An administration representative told CNN that Trump was not injured and is safe. Reports say Secret Service officers pushed journalists back while screaming: "Shots fired."

US Vice President JD Vance was also present at the event and was evacuated as well.

Trump later reported that the person who opened fire had been detained.

Quote from Trump: "The shooter has been apprehended, and I have recommended that we 'LET THE SHOW GO ON'."
