US secretary of state responds to Iran’s proposal on Strait of Hormuz
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said he believes that Iran is still seeking to retain control over the Strait of Hormuz, and that this is unacceptable to the United States.

Details: Responding to a question about reports that Tehran has proposed reopening the Strait of Hormuz after negotiations fell through, Rubio said the US cannot accept a situation in which Iran continues to decide which vessels may pass through the strait or imposes any Iranian fees.
Quote: "If what they mean by opening the straits is, 'yes, the straits are opened, as long as you coordinate with Iran, get our permission, or we will blow you up and you pay us,' – that's not opening the straits."
