Ukrainian P1-SUN interceptor drones manufactured by SkyFall have for the first time recorded on video the destruction of Russian Gerbera drones being used as airborne carriers for FPV drones.

Quote: "The onboard camera footage from P1-SUN interceptors captured moments of interception: Gerbera drones can be seen in the air with FPV drones secured to their upper platform. The footage clearly shows elements of their construction, including the X-shaped frame and FPV propellers."

Details: SkyFall reports over the course of the day, military personnel detected and shot down five Russian UAVs. Among the units that engaged the targets were the Raven crew of the 58th Separate Motorised Infantry Brigade and the Boks unit of the 302nd Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment.

The company recalled that the Gerbera is a Russian drone initially used primarily as a cheap decoy to overwhelm Ukrainian air defence or as a reconnaissance drone.

However, in early 2026, Ukrainian defence ministry adviser Serhii "Flash" Beskrestnov reported the emergence of the Gerbera in the role of an airborne platform for FPV drones.

The company noted that the growing number of such assets may indicate a transition by Russian forces from isolated experiments to more systematic use of this tactic. It added that Gerberas are effectively acting as airborne carriers, extending the operational range of FPV drones.

The P1-SUN is a Ukrainian interceptor drone designed to engage Shahed drones and other aerial assets. The drone reaches speeds of up to 310 km/h and can operate at altitudes of up to 9,000 metres and within a radius of up to 33 kilometres from the launch point. Its stated target pursuit time is up to 17 minutes.

The interceptor is equipped with a warhead of up to 800 grams which, according to the company, ensures guaranteed destruction of enemy UAVs. Certain P1-SUN modifications have thermal imaging cameras and use AI technology to automatically highlight aerial targets on the operator's screen and assist in automated engagement.

  • A Ukrainian defence ministry adviser previously reported that Russian Gerbera-type drones are dropping FPV drones with warheads in Ukraine's rear – over 30 kilometres from the border.
  • He also previously shared footage confirming the use of Russian Gerbera drones as FPV drone carriers.
