Ukraine already has missiles similar to German-made Taurus, defence minister says

Ukrainian Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has said Kyiv already has missiles with a range similar to that of German-made Taurus missiles.
Source: Fedorov at a briefing with his German counterpart Boris Pistorius in Kyiv on 11 May, as reported by Interfax-Ukraine, a Ukrainian news agency
Quote: "As regards Taurus, of course, we already have missiles that operate at a similar distance and even longer. But there can never be too few such strike capabilities."
Details: Fedorov added that Ukraine is always open to having more strike capabilities.
Quote: "In fact, today we are already gaining a certain independence in this area. We have all seen strikes on Russia at a distance of 1,500 km. So Ukraine is doing its homework well."
Background:
- In March, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said he no longer sees any need to supply Ukraine with long-range Taurus cruise missiles in view of Kyiv's technological progress on the battlefield.
- Pistorius arrived in Ukraine on the morning of 11 May for talks on expanding cooperation in the defence sector between Germany and Ukraine. He and Fedorov signed a Letter of Intent between the ministries on cooperation in defence technology innovation.
