Details: Ukraine will receive the first tranche of the EU's €90 billion loan in June 2026.
The sources' information appears to contradict a statement made by European Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos on 11 May that the first tranche of the €90 billion EU loan will be disbursed next week.
The first disbursements under the EU's €90 billion loan for Ukraine – €5.9 billion in military support and €3.2 billion in macro-financial assistance to support the country's budget – will reach Kyiv no earlier than early June, sources familiar with the internal preparatory process told European Pravda.
According to the sources, the next €2.8 billion tranche under the Ukraine Facility, conditional on certain laws being passed in April 2026, will be disbursed no sooner than early June.
Three documents that are required before the €90 billion in loan funds can start to be disbursed to Kyiv are still being finalised with the Ukrainian side.
These are the loan agreement for the full €90 billion, which is currently being discussed with Ukraine and will need to be signed by both sides, an addendum to the loan agreement under the Ukraine Facility, and a memorandum of understanding on macro-financial assistance, which sets out the conditions for one part of the package. The sources said this is in the final stage of coordination and should be signed next week.
