Some missiles for Ukrainian Patriot air defence systems to be produced in Germany

Some PAC-2 GEM-T missiles for Patriot air defence systems at the disposal of Ukrainian forces will be produced at a new plant in Germany.
Source: Pavlo Palisa, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine
Details: Palisa discussed the supply of interceptor missiles with a delegation from RTX, the company that manufactures them, focusing on accelerating deliveries, repairing damaged Patriot systems and the possibility of servicing some components in Ukraine.
Quote: "An agreement on the supply of PAC-2 GEM-T missiles was recently signed. Some of them are to be produced at a new facility in Germany. The key issue now is maximising the speed of the process, and it is also important to find opportunities for Ukraine to receive the missiles more quickly."
Details: According to a report by Missile Defense Advocacy Alliance (MDAA), PAC-2 GEM-T missiles are upgraded munitions for Patriot systems. This version of the interceptor received a new fuze and systems that improved radar sensitivity to targets with small radar signatures. PAC-2 GEM-T missiles are capable of engaging a wider range of targets as a complement to PAC-3 missiles.
Background:
- In April, Ukraine and Germany agreed on a €4 billion defence cooperation package that provides for the supply of hundreds of missiles for Patriot air defence systems.
- Ukraine has also been open to exchanging technology and weapons with Middle Eastern countries and may share interceptor drone technologies in exchange for PAC-2 and PAC-3 missiles for Patriot systems.
