Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs is initiating a United Nations Security Council meeting in response to the latest large-scale Russian air attack on Kyiv and the capital region, which has claimed several lives.

Details: The country's chief diplomat recalled that at least eight people were killed in Kyiv overnight as a result of a Russian strike, with dozens more injured and over 20 people still considered missing.

More details: Sybiha stated that he has instructed all embassies in Ukraine to lower their flags and open condolence books on 15 May.

In addition, on the morning of 15 May the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry will invite all foreign ambassadors in Kyiv to visit the site where an entire section of a multi-storey residential building was destroyed as a result of a Russian strike.

Background: On the night of 13-14 May, Russia launched a combined strike on Kyiv. As of 17:00, eight people are known to have been killed, including a 12-year-old child, and 44 more have been injured. According to the State Emergency Service, 20 more people are still missing.
