Kremlin expects resumption of "peace process" and US assistance

Russia expects peace negotiations on ending its war of aggression against Ukraine to resume, with the United States playing a role in this.

Details: Peskov recalled that the peace process is currently "on pause".

"We expect it will nonetheless be resumed. And we expect our American counterparts to continue their peacemaking and mediation efforts in this regard," Putin's spokesman said.

He made the customary false claim that Russia is allegedly striking "only military or near-military facilities" in Ukraine.

And at the same time complained that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are attacking infrastructure facilities in Russia.

On 14 May, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he expects the pause in negotiations to end and for diplomacy to intensify.
The negotiating process on the Russia-Ukraine war has nearly ground to a halt since the start of the US and Israeli war against Iran at the end of February. The expected trip by Trump's negotiators to Kyiv "after Easter" never took place.
At the end of April, Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is ready for another round of peace negotiations with Russia in a trilateral format.
