Details: The Hungarian side also ordered the relevant records to be immediately removed from state databases.
Earlier, Hungary decided to withdraw previous claims that the Ukrainian citizens had posed a threat to national security.
"It is notable that this announcement was only made after the relevant decisions had been challenged in court. Meanwhile, the Hungarian side did not wait for the court proceedings in Budapest to be completed and independently revoked the restrictions imposed," Oschadbank stated.
As a result, all restrictions introduced on 6 March 2026 have now been fully lifted.
Background:
- On 5 March, two Oschadbank cash-in-transit vehicles and their crews were unlawfully detained in Hungary as they were transporting US$40 million, €35 million and 9 kg of gold in transit from Vienna to Kyiv.
- On 6 March, the seven Oschadbank employees were handed over to Ukraine.
- On 12 March, the two cash-in-transit vehicles were returned to bank representatives.
- On 6 May, Hungary returned all the funds and valuables to Oschadbank.
