Local history museum damaged in Russian attack on Konotop, Sumy Oblast – photos
The Konotop Local History Museum named after Oleksandr Lazarevskyi suffered a direct hit from a Russian drone during a large-scale attack on Konotop in Sumy Oblast on the night of 19-20 May. The building has been damaged.

Details: Verbytskyi said the attack damaged the roof, entrance doors, internal partitions, ceilings, floors and all exhibition halls of the building.
Museum staff are currently assessing the damage and relocating items stored on the premises. Further decisions on preserving the building will be made after the assessment is completed.
Verbytskyi noted that the museum's storage facility survived the attack. Valuables included in the first two stages of the evacuation had already been removed from the museum, while work on packing and relocating the remaining items was ongoing.
As of the end of April, Russia had damaged 2,540 cultural infrastructure sites and 1,783 cultural heritage sites across Ukraine.
Background:
- On the night of 19-20 May, Konotop Mayor Artem Semenikhin reported that Russian forces had struck an apartment building in the city and that people could be trapped under the rubble.
- Eleven people were injured and one person was killed in the attack.
