Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant has operated on single power line for two months, IAEA says

Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) has been dependent on a single external power line for two months.
Source: a report by Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Details: Since the main 750-kV Dniprovska line was disconnected on 24 March, ZNPP has received power only from the backup 330-kV Ferosplavna-1 line. During this time, there have been three cases of external power supply loss at the facility.
The plant also reported to the IAEA on 21 May about a communications failure at one of its off-site radiation monitoring stations, but said the cause of the problem has not yet been determined.
Several radiation monitoring stations on and off the site continue to provide daily radiation monitoring data to the IAEA.
Background:
- More than 160 UAVs were recorded flying over the South Ukraine, Rivne and Chornobyl nuclear power plants during Russian attacks on 13 and 14 May.
- On 4 May, a UAV struck an external radiation monitoring laboratory at the temporarily occupied ZNPP outside the plant's perimeter.
- On 1 May, the IAEA sent another mission to Ukraine to assess the condition of electrical substations supporting the stable operation of nuclear power plants.
- On 14 April, the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant lost external power supply for the 13th time since the start of the full-scale war.
