Russia strikes Kyiv with ballistic missiles and drones: residential buildings hit, 1 killed and 44 injured – photos

Russian forces have attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles and drones. Multiple residential buildings have been hit. Early reports indicate that 44 people have been injured and a woman has been killed.

"The capital has come under a large-scale ballistic missile attack. Further launches are possible. Stay in shelters!" Tkachenko said.

Update at 02:00: The mayor reported that, based on early reports, debris from downed assets fell in a non-residential area of the Podilskyi district.

In the Shevchenkivskyi district, missile debris fell on a 24-storey residential building, causing damage. Three people were reported injured.

In the Solomianskyi district, a drone struck a 24-storey residential building. A fire broke out on the 19th floor. A house was also damaged.

In the Darnytskyi district, debris fell on the roof of a multi-storey residential building.

Update at 03:00: Klitschko reported that the number of those injured had risen to five. One of them was hospitalised.

He said that in the Shevchenkivskyi district, a drone struck a nine-storey residential building between the second and third floors.

In the Obolonskyi district, a drone struck a 16-storey apartment building between the 11th and 12th floors and a non-residential building next to a three-storey residential building, causing fires. A single-storey house was also on fire.

In the Desnianskyi district, a UAV struck a supermarket building.

In the Dniprovskyi district, a drone struck a house, causing a fire.

As of 05:04, 13 people were known to have been injured in Kyiv. Seven of them were hospitalised.

In the Shevchenkivskyi district, a strike occurred near one of the schools. People were sheltering inside the school's shelter. Early reports indicate that the entrance to the shelter was blocked by debris. In another school, a strike caused a fire on the first floor.

A five-storey residential building suffered structural damage within one entrance section, with a fire spreading from the ground to the fourth floor. A business centre building was hit, and a fire broke out on the territory of a market. In addition, a nine-storey apartment building was struck between the seventh and eighth floors. Early reports indicate that one person was killed.

In the Pecherskyi district, a 20-storey apartment building was struck on the 12th floor.

Update at 06:00: The number of those injured in Kyiv rose to 21, including a 15-year-old boy. Thirteen people were taken to hospital, three of them are in a serious condition.

Update: After 08:00, Mayor Klitschko reported that a total of 44 people have been injured, in addition to the woman killed in the Shevchenkivskyi district. Of them, 28 people have been hospitalised, including two children, who are in a moderate condition.

Three people are in a severe condition.
