Details: UEFA's Executive Committee has formally amended the list of participants for the 2026/27 European competition season to bring it into line with the current suspension of Russian national teams and clubs.
The organisation has updated the list of teams, removing Russian representatives from "UEFA competitions" – meaning Russian teams will miss not only European club competitions but also the Nations League, futsal championships, the Regions' Cup and others.
UEFA suspended Russia in 2022, since when Russian teams have not competed in European tournaments. Belarus, by contrast, has been subject only to a prohibition on matches against Ukraine's national teams in any UEFA tournament since 2022.
The Ukrainian Association of Football, the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine and Ukraine's Ministry of Youth and Sport had previously submitted appeals to FIFA and UEFA leadership calling for Russia to be barred from competition and for renewed sanctions against Belarus.
