Zelenskyy after Pashinyan's election victory in Armenia: "This is a test for EU"

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that the victory of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's Civil Contract party in Armenia's parliamentary elections is a test for the European Union, which must now demonstrate genuine support for the country.

Details: Zelenskyy congratulated Armenia on holding democratic and free elections and congratulated Nikol Pashinyan on his victory.
"This is also a victory for Armenia's sovereignty, your independence, and your right to live the way you choose," the Ukrainian president said.
He wished Armenia success and reaffirmed Ukraine's readiness to expand bilateral cooperation.
Zelenskyy also stressed that the European Union should not delay its policy towards Armenia.
"Now is precisely the time for the European Union to provide real support to Armenia and do everything necessary to ensure that people feel their lives are better thanks to their relationship with Europe. This is a test for the European Union. It is important not to lose time or miss opportunities," he said.
Background:
- According to the preliminary count of all ballots, the Civil Contract party won Armenia's parliamentary elections on 8 June with 49.81% of the vote.
- Following the election, Pashinyan declared that the "three-headed party of war" had been defeated.
