Ukraine's Third Army Corps has evacuated 600 soldiers in one year using ground robots

The Third Army Corps, which was deployed on the Lyman-Borova front a year ago, has carried out more than 18,000 missions using ground robotic systems, evacuating over 600 wounded soldiers and transporting 4,500 tonnes of cargo.

Quote from Danylo "Boroda" Novytskyi, Deputy Chief of Staff at the Third Army Corps: "In terms of technological development, we can clearly say that we are the first and so far the only corps to use ground robotic systems at this level. Every second ground robot in the Armed Forces of Ukraine operates within the Triika [Third Army Corps – ed.]."
Details: Over the year since deployment, the corps' troops have also carried out more than 300,000 strike missions using unmanned systems and destroyed over 17,000 Russian drones.

According to service members from the Third Corps, drone effectiveness has increased significantly due to streamlined paperwork. Junior officers have been able to focus more on battlefield operations. A mission command-and-control system has also been introduced, under which the commander sets the task and intent, while junior officers independently determine how to execute it.
A key role in the new system is played by the Battle Captain – an officer who manages combat directly without higher-level approval.
"In fact, the Battle Captain not only manages combat but is also responsible for coordination between units. Battle Captains can quickly communicate with each other and promptly achieve results. They also plan actions over longer periods, which improves unit performance," said Andrii Shapovalov, Head of Intelligence at the 120th Separate Territorial Defence Brigade subordinated to the Third Army Corps.

Among other factors contributing to improved effectiveness is enhanced reconnaissance through corps-wide cooperation, enabling better planning and more effective strikes against the Russians. To support this, a system has been introduced that enables headquarters at all levels to see a unified operational picture in real time.
Background: Earlier, the Third Army Corps secured a fire advantage over key Russian logistics routes in Luhansk Oblast. Drones operated by the corps struck Russian assets at the Izvaryne checkpoint, 205 km from the front lines.
