The SOF, which carried out the strike on TANECO, noted that the successful special operation was preceded by thorough study of critical facilities supporting the refinery's operation. Through pre-planned actions and coordination between Ukraine's Special Operations Forces and representatives of the rebel movement Black Spark, key elements of the refinery were struck and the ELOU AVT-7 unit – a key industrial installation for primary oil processing – was substantially damaged.

Ukrainian forces note that the TANECO refining complex is one of Russia's largest oil refining facilities, with a design processing capacity of over 16 million tonnes of oil per year. The facility produces a wide range of fuel and lubricant materials, including diesel fuel, aviation fuel and other petroleum products.

The TAIF-NK facility is a large oil refining complex distinguished by an exceptionally high oil processing depth, declared at over 95% following the launch of its heavy residue deep processing complex. The facility processes heavy high-sulphur crude oil and gas condensate.

The plant's output is distributed across several key segments, from mass-market fuels to specific raw materials for petrochemicals and military needs.

The General Staff also reports a strike on the Tolyattikauchuk plant in Samara Oblast, which specialises in the production of synthetic rubbers – used, among other things, in the subsequent manufacture of solid rocket fuel for tactical and ballistic missiles – as well as monomers, fractions and high-octane petrol additives. The strike on the target and a fire on the plant's grounds have been confirmed.
