EU foreign ministers to discuss new Russia sanctions package in Luxembourg

EU foreign ministers will discuss the European Union's 21st package of sanctions against Russia during a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg on 15 June.

Details: The European Commission's recently unveiled proposal for the EU's 21st Russia sanctions package will be discussed by foreign ministers on 15 June.
"The first official agenda item will be Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine. The discussion is expected to focus on further increasing pressure on Russia," an EU official told European Pravda.
The official added that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha will join the discussion via video link.
A diplomatic source told European Pravda that ministers will discuss the new "rather substantial" 21st sanctions package presented by the European Commission this week.
"They will also discuss how to further isolate Russia on the international stage," the source added.
Background:
- On 9 June, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen presented the EU's proposed 21st Russia sanctions package.
- Among other measures, the package proposes EU entry bans on Russian combatants who have fought against Ukraine.
- The 21st sanctions package must now be considered and unanimously approved by the Council of the European Union.
- According to European Pravda's sources, the EU aims to adopt the 21st sanctions package by 15 July – the deadline for reviewing the price cap on Russian oil.
