UK to unveil new Russia sanctions package targeting LNG tankers
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is set to announce new energy sanctions against Russia and a fuel supply agreement for Ukraine's nuclear power plants for the next two years during meetings with partners at the G7 summit on 16 June.

Details: The latest UK sanctions package is expected to target Russia's illicit shadow fleet, following the first interception of a sanctioned oil tanker by UK authorities over the weekend, and the finance networks used to circumvent sanctions and support Russia's armed forces.
The package will include sanctions on several vessels transporting Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Quote from the UK government: "This package is expected to bring UK sanctioned shadow fleet and Russian LNG vessels to more than 600.
The new measures are also expected to expose and target a Russian state-linked network involved in covertly procuring western technology for Russia's military, as well as closing in on several third country suppliers helping Russia to illegally move money around the world."
Details: Starmer also welcomed an agreement under which British company Urenco will supply enriched uranium to Ukraine's state nuclear energy company Energoatom with £210 million in support from UK Export Finance. The agreement was reached during Starmer's recent meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Details: The announcement comes as the G7 summit gets underway, with its opening session focused on strengthening peace and security for Ukraine and Europe. Officials said Starmer is expected to tell fellow leaders that the G7 must work together more closely to secure the just and lasting peace that Ukraine deserves.
