Quote: "Russia uses sexual violence as yet another weapon against our people. This is a grave war crime. The state will do everything possible to ensure that Russia is held accountable and that citizens affected by these crimes receive full reparations."

Details: Applications for the payment will be reviewed by a specially established commission under the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity. Svyrydenko said that confidentiality will be ensured throughout the process in order to prevent re-traumatisation.

Receiving reparations will not affect a person's eligibility for housing subsidies or other forms of state assistance.

Background: Since the start of the full-scale invasion, 401 cases of sexual violence committed by Russian military personnel against Ukrainian civilians have been recorded.
