Details: "Of the total number of UAVs that the DOT Defence Procurement Agency purchases for the defence forces, 95% are of Ukrainian manufacture," the statement reads.
According to the ministry, the launch of the DOT-Chain Defence weapons marketplace played an important role in the development of Ukraine's drone market.
"The system created a market model in which procurement decisions are made by the direct users – the military personnel of combat brigades," the statement reads.
This is said to have increased competition among manufacturers, created incentives to improve products and made it possible to forecast demand and scale up production.
"As a result, the Ukrainian UAV market was able to significantly increase its production capacity and today accounts for the absolute majority of purchases in this category," the Ministry of Defence added.
The ministry also noted that last year, purchases of unmanned systems exceeded purchases of ammunition for the first time and this trend is continuing.
The DOT-Chain Defence marketplace was launched in June 2025. It is a digital platform that allows brigades to independently select the weapons they need, purchased using DOT funds.
In March, the Ministry of Defence introduced a new approach to defence UAV procurement. Drone requirements are now generated automatically on the basis of qualitative battlefield data, without human error, subjective influence or corruption risks.
