ABC News anchor David Muir described Maksym as a friend and colleague to many of the channel's journalists.

Quote from Muir: "He was a friend and colleague to those of us who reported in Ukraine. He drove many of us around the country into the front lines, keeping all of us safe. He always had a smile."

Details: ABC News said that Maksym joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine several months ago. He is survived by his wife, Kateryna, and their baby daughter, Mariia.

"All of us who worked with Max are thinking of him, his wife Kateryna and their baby daughter Mariia. Max was just 30 years old," Muir added.
