Self-proclaimed Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko travelled to China to meet Chinese leader Xi Jinping after holding talks with Russian ruler Vladimir Putin.

Details: According to the Belarusian presidential press service, Lukashenko and Xi held a working meeting on 29 June.

During the meeting, Lukashenko praised what he described as the two countries' "successful cooperation" and "industrial collaboration".

"In every area of economic development, Belarus uses your technologies. We are satisfied with the level of these technologies and the quality of the products we receive today," he said.

According to the Belarusian side, Xi described China and Belarus as good friends, saying their relationship had "withstood every test of international turbulence" and that "their friendship continues to grow stronger".

Background: On 26 June, Lukashenko travelled to Russian leader Vladimir Putin's residence in Valdai. No statements to the media were made following their meeting.
