Monaco launches manhunt after explosion injures sanctioned Ukrainian businessman Vadym Yermolaiev

Police in Monaco have launched a large-scale manhunt for a suspect believed to be behind an explosion that seriously injured sanctioned Ukrainian businessman Vadym Yermolaiev and members of his family.

Details: The search operation, involving Monaco's police force, around 40 French gendarmes and two helicopters, is continuing on the morning of Tuesday 30 June.

The suspect was captured by numerous CCTV cameras, although his face was partially concealed.

According to the information available so far, the suspect left a package containing an explosive device in the lobby of a building in the Boulevard d'Italie area before walking quickly towards the neighbouring French commune of Beausoleil, where investigators lost track of him.

In addition to reviewing CCTV footage, investigators are interviewing people who may have seen the suspect.

Prince Albert II of Monaco said all available emergency and security services have been mobilised in close coordination with the French authorities.

• The explosion occurred on the evening of 29 June. Yermolaiev sustained serious injuries. The authorities in Monaco have described the incident as unprecedented for the principality.
• Vadym Yermolaiev is a businessman from Dnipro, founder of the Alef trade and industrial corporation and one of the city's largest property developers. He was previously listed among Forbes Ukraine's 100 richest Ukrainians, but later renounced his Ukrainian citizenship to become a citizen of Cyprus.
• Yermolaiev was also featured in Ukrainska Pravda's Monaco Battalion investigation into Ukrainian businessmen, politicians and oligarchs who settled on the French Riviera during Russia's full-scale invasion.
