Information from Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin about the alleged occupation of the settlement of Kostiantynivka in Donetsk Oblast by Russian troops is not true, Ukraine's General Staff has stated.

Source: Major Andrii Kovalov, spokesperson for the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in a comment to Ukrainska Pravda

Details: Kovalov stressed that, according to the automated system of the Armed Forces of Ukraine's Operational Control Centre Dzvin and the DELTA system, the settlement of Kostiantynivka remains under the control of Ukraine's defence forces.

Kovalov noted that military units and subdivisions of the Skhid (East) group of forces continue defensive operations within Kostiantynivka and on the approaches to the city.

However, Kovalov added that there are cases of small Russian infantry groups infiltrating; counter-sabotage measures are ongoing in Kostiantynivka.

Quote from Kovalov: "On 3 July, the enemy carried out 11 assault actions on this front, without success. Instead, the enemy, not for the first time, is resorting to spreading outright disinformation and fakes at the highest official level.

Ukrainian defenders continue to hold their positions along designated lines. The situation remains difficult but is under the control of Ukraine's defence forces."

Background: Earlier, Putin claimed that Russian forces had "captured Kostiantynivka".
