Russians attacking Ukrainian gas extraction facilities for second consecutive day

Russian forces once again deliberately targeted extraction assets belonging to the Naftogaz Group, Ukraine's largest national oil and gas company, on 5 July. A number of facilities in Poltava, Kharkiv and Sumy oblasts have been struck simultaneously.

Quote: "The Russians are attacking production facilities with various types of drones, including jet-powered ones. The strikes have been continuing almost without interruption since yesterday morning."

Details: Major fires broke out at a number of extraction facilities. There is significant destruction and equipment operations have been halted.

Koretskyi said there were no casualties among workers.

"It is currently impossible to determine the scale of the destruction. The full extent of the damage can only be assessed once the security situation allows," he added.

Background: Russian drones attacked one of the Naftogaz Group's gas extraction assets in Poltava Oblast on the morning of 4 July, causing a fire and halting operations at the facility.
