Details: Andrii, commander of a battery equipped with Skynex systems, said Ukraine's defence forces were among the first to receive the Skynex system. The cruise missile was downed during one of Russia's attacks on Ukraine.

"The system measures the target's range, altitude and speed. The projectile is programmed as it leaves the barrel by a programmer located in the muzzle brake-compensator," Andrii explained.

The Skynex system shown in the Air Command West video has downed 34 Shahed-type attack drones and two Kh-101 cruise missiles, the command specified.

"The system automatically tracks the target, calculates the intercept point and the projectile detonates in close proximity to the target," the serviceman explained.

For reference: Skynex is a short-range anti-aircraft artillery system designed to combat drones and intercept missiles, artillery and mortar munitions. The system was developed and is manufactured by German defence company Rheinmetall.

It consists of the Oerlikon Skymaster battle management system, the Oerlikon X-TAR3D tactical radar data acquisition device and up to four Oerlikon Revolver Gun Mk3 anti-aircraft cannons. Ukraine operates models with four cannons.

As of November 2025, Ukraine's defence forces had four Skynex units in service.

British-made Terrahawk Paladin anti-aircraft systems entered service in Ukraine.
