Ukrainian forces hit Russia's Yaroslavl oil refinery again and strike other targets

Units from Ukraine's defence forces have once again struck the Slavneft-YANOS oil refinery in the Russian city of Yaroslavl as well as a number of other targets.

Details: The General Staff said explosions and smoke on the premises of the facility were recorded after the strike.

Quote from the General Staff: "Among other targets, the Novatek-Ust-Luga oil refinery near the settlement of Slobodka and the permanent deployment site of the enemy's 26th Missile Brigade near the settlement of Luga in Leningrad Oblast, Russia, were hit."

More details: Ukrainian forces hit the TES-Terminal-1 light petroleum products transshipment terminal in Kerch in temporarily occupied Crimea. It is one of the largest facilities for storing and transshipping light petroleum products in Crimea.

In addition, a railway overpass near Dovzhansk in Luhansk Oblast was hit. The Russians use the site to move personnel, weapons, ammunition and logistics supplies.

Quote from SSU: "Three hangars containing aviation equipment were hit at the Hvardiiske airbase. A Pantsir-S2 anti-aircraft missile system near Simferopol, a mobile fire group in Kerch, a petroleum products tank and a pumping station at the TES-Terminal-1 oil depot were also struck."

Background:

  • On the night of 5-6 July, drones attacked Yaroslavl and Leningrad Oblast in Russia, including one of Russia's largest refineries and oil export ports on the Baltic Sea.
  • On the night of 27-28 June, Ukraine's defence forces struck two Russian oil refineries (Slavyansk Oil Refinery in Slavyansk-on-Kuban, Krasnodar Krai, and Slavneft-YANOS Oil Refinery in Yaroslavl), a railway bridge in temporarily occupied Crimea and a Russian ammunition depot in Donetsk Oblast.
  • The Yaroslavl Oil Refinery is one of Russia's largest oil refineries, with a design capacity of 15 million tonnes of crude oil per year. It produces petrol, diesel, aviation fuel and other petroleum products considered vital to Russia's military logistics.
