Details: The minister was asked about the situation surrounding the transfer of Polish MiG-29 combat aircraft to Ukraine in exchange for drone technology. He replied that negotiations are continuing.
"A clear proposal is being discussed: MiGs in exchange for drones. The Ukrainians said yes, then began having second thoughts. Now they are back in negotiations – and that is good. I hope this proposal will be successfully finalised," Kosiniak-Kamysz said.
Earlier this week he commented that the question of transferring MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine had not yet been resolved.
Background:
- On 30 June, Kosiniak-Kamysz said Ukraine had withdrawn from an arrangement under which Poland would have transferred MiG-29 fighter jets in exchange for access to Ukrainian drone technologies.
- A few days later, he claimed that Ukraine was not sharing drone technologies with Poland because of a historical dispute.
