Russian strikes cause power outages in six oblasts

Russian drone attacks and artillery strikes left consumers without electricity in Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, Sumy and Kharkiv oblasts as of the morning of 16 July.

Details: Power engineers have begun emergency repair work where the security situation allows and are working to resume electricity supplies as quickly as possible.

Ukrenergo has advised consumers to use high-power electrical appliances between 10:00 and 15:00, when utility-scale solar power plants operate at peak efficiency.

The company warned that the situation in the power system may change and urged consumers to follow updates from their local electricity distribution operators.

Background: Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 13 missiles, five loitering munitions and 146 attack drones on the night of 15-16 July. Ukrainian air defences destroyed or jammed 132 aerial assets.
