Russia attacks Ukraine with 13 missiles and 151 drones, air defences down 132 aerial assets

Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 13 missiles, five loitering munitions and 146 attack drones on the night of 15-16 July. Ukrainian air defences have destroyed or jammed 132 aerial assets.

Details: Russia launched eight Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles from Bryansk Oblast, four Kh-22/32 cruise missiles from the Black Sea and one Kh-31P anti-radar missile.

Russian forces also deployed five Banderol loitering munitions and 146 attack drones, including Shahed, Gerbera and Italmas drones as well as Parodiya decoy UAVs. They were launched from the Russian cities of Kursk, Oryol and Millerovo as well as from the temporarily occupied cities of Donetsk in Donetsk Oblast and Hvardiiske in Crimea. Some of the Shahed drones were jet-powered.

Aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare assets, unmanned systems units and mobile fire groups from Ukraine's defence forces have been involved in repelling the attack.

Quote: "As of 09:00, [Ukrainian] air defence forces had destroyed or jammed three Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles and 129 Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, Banderol and drones of other types in the country's north, south, centre and east.

Hits by five Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles, one Kh-31P anti-radar missile and 16 attack UAVs had been recorded at 15 locations and the fall of downed aerial assets (debris) at seven locations. The Kh-22/32 cruise missiles did not reach targets.

The attack is ongoing, as several enemy drones are still in Ukrainian airspace. Please observe safety measures."
