A total of 45.2% said they oppose it, while 2.5% were undecided.

Some 22.6% said they strongly support continuing assistance to Ukraine, while 23.7% said they are firmly opposed. Supporters of opposition parties make up the largest share of the latter group.

By comparison, 77.5% supported military assistance to Ukraine at the end of 2022.

Background:

  • This week, Przemysław Czarnek, Law and Justice's candidate for prime minister, said Poland should "force the EU" to stop funding Ukraine's weapons and recovery unless Kyiv makes concessions over historical disputes.
  • Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski responded that Czarnek "wants to let Putin get closer to the Polish border", adding that competition between PiS politicians and parties further to the right over anti-Ukrainian rhetoric was "depriving them of reason".
  • PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński also criticised Czarnek, stressing that Ukraine's success in defending itself against Russian aggression is in Poland's national interest. Czarnek subsequently insisted there is "no disagreement" between the two of them.
