Background:
- In May, a number of Kyiv-based social media channels reported that Tymur Tkachenko had submitted a resignation letter.
- However, Tkachenko responded to the reports of his resignation by saying that he suspected "certain aggressive political teams" of having paid for these reports.
- On 3 April 2025, Kyiv City Council adopted a decision amending certain Kyiv City Council resolutions. Tkachenko believed the decision limited his powers.
- Tkachenko subsequently filed a lawsuit concerning the expansion of powers by Vitalii Klitschko, head of Kyiv City State Administration.
- Tkachenko also complained in October 2025 that he was unable to hold a Defence Council meeting due to the absence of Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
