Background:
- In May, a number of Kyiv-based social media channels reported that Tymur Tkachenko had submitted a resignation letter.
- At the same time, he responded to the reports about submitting a resignation letter, suspecting "certain aggressive political teams" of commissioning the materials.
- On 3 April 2025, the Kyiv City Council adopted a decision amending certain Kyiv City Council resolutions, which, in the view of KCMA head Tkachenko, limits his powers.
- Tkachenko subsequently filed a lawsuit concerning the expansion of powers by Kyiv City State Administration head Vitalii Klitschko.
- Tkachenko also complained in October 2025 that due to the absence of Mayor Vitali Klitschko, he was unable to hold a Defence Council meeting.
