Ukraine's newly-appointed Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi has made his first international call to the International Monetary Fund.

Quote: "I held my first international call with IMF's First Deputy Managing Director Dan Katz. We discussed preparations for the IMF Executive Board meeting on the first review of Ukraine's Extended Fund Facility (EFF), which, as confirmed by the Fund, will take place on July 20."

Details: Approval of the first review by the IMF Executive Board is expected to secure Ukraine's next tranche of international aid, worth US$690 million.

Koretskyi said they also agreed to coordinate further steps to secure financing for Ukraine's 2027 state budget.

Background: On 16 July, the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian parliament) approved the appointment of a new government, to be headed by Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi.
