Fastest decline in Putin's rating since start of war recorded in Russia

Pollsters have recorded a record weekly drop in Russian ruler Vladimir Putin's rating since the start of the full-scale aggression against Ukraine, with his approval falling to 66%.

Details: The Public Opinion Foundation (FOM) recorded a five-percentage-point drop in Putin's rating over the past week to 66%, which is the most significant decline in the Russian ruler's approval rating since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

According to FOM's poll, trust in the Kremlin leader also fell from 69% to 67%.

Pro-Kremlin pollsters Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) have also continued to record declining ratings for Putin. According to VCIOM, approval of Putin's performance fell by 0.9 percentage points to 65.1% between 6 and 12 July, while trust in Putin dropped by 1.3 percentage points to 71%.

VCIOM recorded the fastest decline in Putin's trust rating since the start of the war in early July, when the figure fell by 1.8 percentage points in a single week.

FOM and VCIOM pollsters began recording a decline in Putin's ratings in spring 2026. The decline was linked, among other things, to internet restrictions and the blocking of Telegram. The drop in ratings has continued against the backdrop of a fuel crisis in Russia.
