Lavrov briefed Rubio on the "real" state of affairs in Russia's war against Ukraine and stated that further arms deliveries to Ukraine were "unacceptable".

"Lavrov once again confirmed the Russian side's readiness for a political and diplomatic settlement of the conflict and its commitment to the proposals put forward by the American side during the meeting between Putin and Trump in Anchorage," the statement said.

The two sides also discussed the "normalisation of conditions" for the functioning of Russian and US diplomatic missions.

The parties agreed to continue contacts at the level of foreign ministries, including within the framework of international organisations in which both countries participate.
