Russians execute captured Ukrainian soldier after interrogation

Prosecutors are investigating yet another crime committed by the Russians – the execution of a Ukrainian prisoner of war in Donetsk Oblast.

Details: Investigators have found that members of the Russian occupation forces captured a servicemember of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near the village of Yalta in the Komar hromada at 14:42 on 13 July 2026. [A hromada is an administrative unit designating a village, several villages, or a town, and their adjacent territories – ed.]
After interrogation, one of the Russians gave the order to execute the Ukrainian defender, and another shot and killed him with a firearm.
A pre-trial investigation has been launched into a criminal case concerning a war crime that resulted in a person's death (Article 438.2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Urgent investigative actions are being carried out to establish all the circumstances of the incident and identify Russian servicemembers involved in the crime.
