Russian attack damages two civilian vessels near Mykolaiv

Russian drones have attacked port infrastructure in the Mykolaiv district, damaging two civilian vessels.

Quote: "The enemy attacked port infrastructure in the Mykolaiv district with Shahed drones today. Two civilian vessels have been damaged in the strike."

Details: Reshetilov said no casualties had been recorded.

This was the second attack on ports in Mykolaiv in recent days. Russian forces struck the city's port infrastructure with Shahed attack drones on the morning of 17 July, killing two Ukrainian civilians.

Unlike the ports of Greater Odesa, the ports of Mykolaiv and Kherson do not currently handle export or import cargo. [Greater Odesa is Ukraine's primary maritime logistical hub in the Black Sea, encompassing the ports of Odesa, Chornomorsk, and Pivdennyi – ed.]

Background:

• The intensification of Russian attacks on vessels has prompted some shipowners to refrain from calling at Ukrainian ports: they are reviewing freight agreements or cancelling bookings.
• As of 23 July, inbound vessel traffic to Ukraine's Black Sea ports has been suspended due to the threat of Russian attacks, according to Agrarian Policy Minister Taras Vysotskyi
• President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Russians are doing everything they can to block the grain corridor for Ukraine.
